Jamie Carragher has launched a scathing attack on Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi after the German’s woeful performance against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Mustafi was responsible for two of Palace’s three goals, which proved costly as the Gunners’ slipped to a 3-2 defeat and lost ground in their race to finish in the top four.

It’s not the first time the 27-year-old’s defending has come under scrutiny – and Carragher says the horror show was hardly surprising.
“I wasn’t surprised by this,” he told Sky Sports.
“He’s been a mess since he joined the club really and this is another example of it.

“He’s at fault for the second goal as well.
“[Unai] Emery made changes and I can totally understand it. Something has to give in the squad. In terms of the firepower in the team you still expected them to win.
“I think it’s a massive blow for Arsenal’s top-four chances.”

Gunners boss Unai Emery, however, refused to criticise the £30million man.
After the defeat, he told talkSPORT: “I’m going to protect every player because they worked and tried to do their best possible.
“I think we can speak about them all generally and not focus on individual issues.â€
