Bayern Munich have already set down a marker for next season by breaking their transfer record to sign Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez in a deal worth £68m.

The World Cup winning defender, who can play at both centre-back and left-back, will join the Bundesliga leaders on a five-year deal from July 1.

Supporters have taken to Twitter to voice their opinions on the deal, with many issuing praise to Liverpool.

The title-chasing Reds managed to get a £75m deal over the line for Virgil van Dijk last January, making him the world’s most expensive defender at the time.

Many took to the social media network to underline how much of a ‘bargain’ they felt that deal was in comparison to Hernandez’s mega money move to Germany.
