Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss LA Galaxy’s next two matches having been suspended for violent conduct by Major League Soccer’s Disciplinary Committee.
Ibrahimovic, 37, has also been fined for his actions from the 86th minute of last week’s 2-0 defeat by New York City FC.
The legendary Swede grabbed Sean Johnson, NYCFC’s goalkeeper, by the neck after the glovesman bumped into him in the penalty area.
The incident came after Chris Pontius fired the rebound over the bar when Ibrahimovic hit the crossbar.
Both players were shown yellow cards for their roles in the incident, though MLS have decided to suspend Ibrahimovic for two games following a review.
Ibrahimovic, the former Manchester United forward, has now been banned three times since moving to the United States. The first came last May for hitting Michael Petrasso of Montreal on the side of the head, while he was handed his second suspension after sitting out the MLS All-Star Game in August.

Ibrahimovic was also accused of threatening to ‘hurt’ Real Salt Lake defender Nedum Onuoha during a match last month. The pair were clashing for much of their MLS fixture, with Onuoha saying after the game that he refused an apology from the Swede after being threatened on the pitch.
“He came into apologise after the game,” said Onuoha, “because from 60 minutes in, he’s saying he’s going to do me, he’s going to hurt me for that game.
“This is a guy who says he’s the face of the MLS, as he calls in himself, and he plays that way on the field.
“I don’t care — if someone comes in and says that to me, you don’t say that on the field. I don’t care. I’m not going to accept his apology. It’s unacceptable.”
