Maurizio Sarri appears to be heading towards the exit door at Chelsea

Sarri, who lost his cool during Monday night’s 2-2 draw with Burnley, knows he is fighting to keep his job.

While the Blues still have realistic hopes of reaching the Champions League, there is an increased feeling Sarri will not be at the club next season.

Meanwhile, the Italian coach has been hit with an £8,000 fine after he was sent from the sidelines against the Clarets, with the 60-year-old accepting the misconduct charge thrown at him by the Football Association.

Sarri, who allegedly suffered abuse from the Burnley bench, was sent to the stands by referee Kevin Friend in stoppage time after chaos erupted at Stamford Bridge.

Sarri claims he was repeatedly called a ‘s*** Italian’ by members of the Clarets’ backroom staff.

Blues assistant Gianfranco Zola said following the game that the Chelsea boss was left ‘offended’ by members of Burnley’s backroom staff.

He said: “I think there will be a follow-up on that. Maurizio felt very unhappy.

“We understand it’s a football game. You say words because of the adrenaline, but he wasn’t particularly happy.”
