Stuart Pearce believes Manchester United could cash in on Paul Pogba this summer, admitting it could be time for the World Cup winner to ‘move on’.
The midfielder has come under fire from fans this season for his inconsistent form and apparent lack of effort in recent games, with United suffering their worst run of results in more than 50 years.
There have even been claims he is ‘tearing apart’ the United dressing room, and that his agent Mino Raiola cancelled a meeting with the club where they were due to discuss a new contract.
Pogba has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid, although manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said he ‘thinks’ the Frenchman will still be at Old Trafford next season.
But Pearce believes the club may well cash in on the £89million signing in the upcoming transfer window while his stock is still high.
“They’ve got a lot of money tied up in that player and only the club will know whether they think he’s value for money,†the former Manchester City manager told the Sports Breakfast.
“Depending on what the offer is, sometimes you just have say it’s not worked and it’s time to move him on.

“Ole will know that and if there is money there for him, they might think it’s worth cashing in now than sitting and waiting and potentially his value dropping.
“As for the other fella, my goodness, Chelsea would be absolutely crazy to let him go.â€
That ‘other fella’ is, of course, Eden Hazard.
The Belgian forward has without doubt been Chelsea’s best player for the past few seasons, but with match-winning performances for club and country come the inevitable links with a big-money move to Spain – in this case, Real Madrid.
According to reports, Hazard, who has a little over a year left on his contract, is very likely to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
But Pearce – stunned that he wasn’t selected for the PFA Team of the Year – wonders how the London club will cope without their talisman.
“I would worry about Chelsea’s chances of getting hold of the Premier League without Hazard,†he added.
“I’m astounded he didn’t make the PFA Team of the Year. If it was me I would have swapped Pogba out and put Hazard in to get him into the team.â€
