In Europe, there are 15 clubs with aggregate attendances totalling more than a million.
Among those are Manchester United, Celtic and Liverpool, according to football governing body UEFA who in January released its tenth licensing benchmarking report – an overview of the state of football across the continent for the 2017/18 season.
One nugget of info to jump out was that more people are watching European football than ever before as the 2017/18 season recorded the highest total attendance level on record, with attendances of 105 million.
Celtic’s Old Firm rivals Rangers make the top 20 with an average attendance of 49,174 giving them an aggregate attendance of 934,306 last term, placing them 19th in the list.
They are joined by Newcastle (51,992/ 987,848), Benfica (53,209/ 957,762), Stuttgart (56,045/ 952,765) and PSG (46,929/ 891,651).
