The decision comes after persistent pressure from fan groups and ongoing calls for a fairer price structure in the Premier League.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham will also keep season ticket prices the same for the 2019/20 campaign.

Liverpool recently announced record pre-tax profits of £125million over the previous financial year and broadcasting deals continue to bring more wealth into the game.

The Reds have been keen to avoid ticket price hikes following the mass walk-out at Anfield in February 2016 in protest against controversial top-tier pricing plans.

The club’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, subsequently reversed the policy and prices have been frozen ever since.

‘Spirit of Shankly’, the Liverpool supporters’ group, have been instrumental in ensuring the club acts in accordance with the fans’ wishes.

â€Å“The club has continued to engage with a wide range of supporters regarding ticket prices and initiatives through its regular fan forums,” read a Liverpool statement.

Gareth Southgate wants England to go one step further at next years European Championships and told talkSPORT he is ready to unleash Callum Hudson-Odoi.

In Russia last summer, Southgate̢۪s exuberant and youthful squad defied critics to make it to the final four of the World Cup.

Despite some cynics believing they would not even make it out a group containing Panama and Tunisia, the Three Lions were just 22 minutes away from their first major final since 1966.

However, defeat to Croatia brought the nation crashing back down to earth after a summer where a nation dared to believe.

With the Nations League tournament to look forward to this summer, Southgate told talkSPORT̢۪s Ian Abrahams he wants to take his young side further.

â€Å“Firstly, it’s hugely exciting,” Southgate said. â€Å“Something we talked about at the beginning of this week because our first job is to make sure we are here and that gives us good focus for these qualifying games coming up.

â€Å“In terms of what next summer could  be, we were at a semi-final last summer,we are at a semi-final already this summer and we want to continue being consistently successful.

â€Å“And to challenge in the latter stages of those competitions and there is no reason this team can’t continue to improve – that’s got to be our goal, that’s got to be the way we work every day.

â€Å“So that’s our aim in terms of my own situation.

â€Å“I felt like a lot of things were exorcised last summer for me and frankly, it’s about the team and it’s about the country.

â€Å“It’s not about what it means individually to me – my job is to lead this group, lead the staff, lead the players.

â€Å“And I am enjoying that challenge.”

While Jadon Sancho has taken Europe by storm at Borussia Dortmund, it has been a completely different story for Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The Chelsea winger has spent much of the season on the bench, apposition the 18-year-old is reluctant to stay in.

And with Bayern Munich and Dortmund reportedly ready to pounce on any uncertainties he has at Stamford Bridge, Southgate has warned the world he is ready to start an international game.

â€Å“I think he is really exciting,” Southgate added. â€Å“Obviously there has been a lot of focus and attention on Jadon, and rightly so.

â€Å“But Callum, throughout our age groups, has been at a similar level.

â€Å“And he has shown that in training this week. So I would have absolutely no hesitation in starting him in the game. He would be ready, no problem.”

No one at United is blaming de Gea

LONDON ̢ۢ Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted he still had faith in David de Gea after his No. 1 goalkeeper's latest howler allowed Chelsea to come away with a 1-1 Premier League draw on Sunday, severely damaging Manchester United's hopes of Champions League qualification.
Asked if he should have been left out in favour of back-up Sergio Romero, the United manager responded with a resounding "No".
He said: "David has been a fantastic 'keeper at this club, his reaction after Manchester City was good and I was confident in him.
"He knows he could do better with their goal, but it's one of those things again."
Defending the three-time winner of the club's Player of the Year award as "not the reason why we are sixth", the Norwegian insisted that de Gea would keep his place in goal for their penultimate league match at relegated Huddersfield on Sunday.
He said: "David has been unbelievable. We do support each other. There is no chance anyone can blame him for losing points.
"There's many different ways of getting back into your best performances and, of course, I'll sit down and speak to David as I've done when he's played well."
The result leaves sixth-placed United, who have now won only twice in the past 10 games, on 65 points, three behind Chelsea in fourth, who also have a superior goal difference by eight.
The Red Devils took the lead through Juan Mata's 11th-minute opener and were in control until Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger's speculative strike from long range was spilled by de Gea, enabling defender Marcos Alonso to snaffle up the rebound for the equaliser.
De Gea's blunder at Old Trafford was the latest in a run of mistakes from the Spain international that have cost nine goals in 11 appearances over the last two months.
According to sports analyst Opta, de Gea has made three errors leading to goals in his last four games in all competitions for United - as many as in his previous 123 matches combined for the club.
De Gea, 28, joined United from Atletico Madrid in 2011.
Solskjaer, who also lost Eric Bailly for the rest of the season with a knee injury, refused to accept de Gea had eased off with his place being seen as untouchable, pointing to the quality of his understudies, Romero and Lee Grant.
The Norwegian said: "He's got two great 'keepers underneath him in Sergio and Lee.
"Sergio's played well every time he's played. Lee's fantastic in training, they keep pushing each other.
"You cannot say there's any complacency, David is not the type to be complacent.
"He's a competitor, he wants to be the best and, for whatever reason, whenever I didn't score a goal (in my playing days), my confidence dropped if I missed chances.
"There's no chance any of us will point fingers because he's saved us so many times."
However, pundit Craig Burley told ESPN that as long as the uncertainty over the Spaniard's future rages on - he is reportedly demanding a weekly wage of £350,000 (S$616,589) to extend his deal, which is up at the end of next term - it will continue to "get in the way of what he does naturally".

Jurgen Klopp ended his run of three cup final defeats as Liverpool boss

Jurgen Klopp won his first piece of silverware as Liverpool boss with his side avenging last season’s Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants reached three successive European finals from 2016 to 2018– a feat which former Manchester United boss Mourinho thinks Liverpool can copy.

He told beIN SPORTS: “Real Madrid did three in a row, why can’t Liverpool do three finals in a row?

“Real Madrid won three, why Liverpool, with this good team with this good spirit with this good empathy, a club, the manager, the players, the fans, you can feel that empathy, why not a third?”

However, Mourinho is aware of the competition facing Liverpool in Europe next season.

Real Madrid, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City will be looking to bounce back following disappointing Champions League campaigns.

Mourinho, a two-time Champions League winner, said: “I was writing about the teams wanting to win the Champions League.

“Juventus, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Liverpool and Chelsea, [although] it will be difficult because they have, maybe, the possibility not to be in the market.

“But you have seven or eight teams that want to win the Champions League.

“Inter [Milan] – they have a good team, they have a new project and they have lots of money to invest.

“Let’s give them a little bit of time, maybe a second year, but some teams they really want to do it, and only one team is going to do it.”

Southampton: How Ralph Hasenhüttl has transformed the Saints as they battle for survival

Southampton: How Ralph Hasenhüttl has transformed the Saints as they battle for survival

Southampton are by no means safe, but the door to the Championship has closed considerably in recent months.

Under Mark Hughes, Southampton looked to have accepted their fate, second-tier football was on the cards and nine points in 15 matches hinted at a first Premier League relegation since 2005 – until Ralph Hasenhuttl turned up.

Raplh Hasenhuttl has turned things around at Southampton

Raplh Hasenhuttl has turned things around at Southampton

Change was needed. The board turned to the ex-RB Leipzig manager. His arrival was understated, was this the right man to lead a side languishing in 18th, away from danger and galvanise a squad depleted of confidence and purpose?

The answer at present would have to be yes. Although Southampton are currently 16th and only two points above the drop, there has been a marked improvement in his brief reign.

The ‘new manager effect’ is a age-old footballing myth, in which the boss is sacrificed and the team suddenly starts playing better, is readily reserved for a labouring club, struggling for form.

However, wins over Arsenal, Everton, and Tottenham, a battling goalless draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and a narrow loss to Manchester United are indicative of that theory.

These results you feel, could very well have been defeats only weeks earlier.

A trip to Brighton, live on talkSPORT 2, is their next fixture, three points here are crucial.

What is telling, is that the 51-year-old has won six of his 17 games, his predecessor Hughes managed just five in 27.

Southampton have taken a high press approach to put the opposition under pressure

While the Austrian lacks the footballing CV of Hughes, Mauricio Pellegrino and Claude Puel, this does not appear to have impacted him as of yet.

Hasenhüttl has not only changed the mood on the South Coast, but the tactics and positions too, switching between a 3-4-2-1 and a 3-5-2 formation.

He has gone from a back four to three centre-halves, Wesley Hoedt out and Jan Bednarek and Jannik Vestergaard coming in.

Hughes’ preferred midfield choice was Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Mario Lemina. Hasenhüttl has favoured Oriol Romeu, his presence offers the defence added protection.

Oriol Romeu has now returned to the first XI under Hasenhuttl.

The high-energy press favours pushing back the opponent over possession, fuelled by intense, repetitive training sessions which he described as ‘mind-blowing’ in his initial press conference. Make the opposition’s life as difficult as possible seems to be part of the theory.

Bednarek has flourished under Hasenhüttl, Nathan Redmond, move from the wing to a central role, is integral to the squad, so too is Danny Ings, while James Ward-Prowse has propelled himself back into England contention, winning his second cap against Montenegro on Monday night.

Credit must go to the manager, Southampton have history when it comes to producing young talent.

Luke Shaw, Theo Walcott, Gareth Bale, the list goes on. That tradition appeared to have been forgotten, Hasenhüttl is embracing it once more.

The heady heights of Ronald Koeman’s time in charge, which over saw two top 10 finishes, seventh and sixth respectively, their highest ever Premier League points total of 63 and Europa League group stage qualification, seem a distant memory.

What Southampton would give to rewind five years, but that’s the beauty of hindsight. Times have changed, survival not Europe is the objective.

Hasenhüttl’s appointment was considered a gamble by some, his experience mainly confined to the second tier of German football and Southampton could still drop out of the Premier League.

But what they do have now is a plan and optimism. Should they stay up, there is no reason why they cannot move themselves further up the table.

A bit of rebuilding in the summer and Hasenhüttl has a capable team, one which could and should push on.

The players are there to do it and now, more importantly, so is the manager.
